HUREX 2025 will unfold in the area around Princess Juliana International Airport, specifically along Airport Road and near the Simpson Bay Lagoon.

To ensure safety and the realism of the exercise, the airport will be temporarily closed, and certain nearby roads will be off-limits to vehicular traffic.

Authorities are advising the public to plan accordingly and follow all official detour signs and guidance.

This exercise is not limited to local responders. It brings together all 10 ESFs, the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), the island’s Dutch military detachment, and other key partners.

The goal is to test multi-agency communication, response coordination, and resource deployment under simulated hurricane disaster conditions.

Notably, Monday’s meeting served to finalize operational plans, assign responsibilities, and confirm communication protocols.

All participating teams affirmed their readiness and emphasized the importance of public cooperation during the drill.

As the island continues to prioritize disaster preparedness, exercises like HUREX 2025 are essential.

They sharpen response capabilities, strengthen interagency coordination, and ensure that first responders are ready to act swiftly and effectively when real disasters strike.
