The incident, now under active investigation by the Traffic Department of the Sint Maarten Police Force (KPSM), involved two motorcycles:
a black Yamaha N Max scooter without a license plate and a white Yamaha XT 125.

Investigators determined that the Yamaha N Max was heading toward Longwall Road from A. Th. Illidge Road.
The rider failed to stop at a red traffic light. Meanwhile, the Yamaha XT 125, traveling on Longwall Road with the right of way, was making a legal left turn toward the Prins Bernhard Bridge.
The N Max collided directly and forcefully with the XT 125, resulting in significant injuries to both riders.

Emergency medical personnel responded swiftly.
They administered on-site care before transporting the victims to the Sint Maarten Medical Center,

where both were admitted for further treatment. Their current conditions have not been publicly disclosed.
This marks the second serious crash at this particular intersection within a two-week period.
Both incidents involved major injuries and occurred under circumstances where traffic signals were ignored.
In light of this troubling pattern, KPSM is intensifying its call for public compliance with traffic laws.
Disregarding traffic lights is not a minor offense—it has immediate and potentially devastating consequences.
Drivers who fail to obey red lights endanger not only their own lives but also the lives of everyone else on the road.
To prevent further tragedies, motorists are urged to remain alert and respect all traffic signals. Responsible driving is not optional—it is essential.
