The Ministry of Justice continues to advance the recovery of Point Blanche Prison with firm resolve and strong inter-agency collaboration.

Since the fire on May 14, all actions have focused on restoring safety, structural integrity, and full operational capacity.

Under the guidance of the Crisis Management Team, the Ministry has coordinated closely with the prison administration, KPSM, UNOPS, and Kingdom partners.

Together, they have executed all recovery measures with urgency and precision.

Two structural experts from UNOPS have arrived to conduct technical assessments and enhance the strategic planning process.

Furthermore, the Ministry successfully transferred six inmates to Bonaire last week.

This critical operation, conducted with full adherence to safety protocols, demonstrated effective coordination between local teams and Kingdom partners.

Minister of Justice Nathalie M. Tackling expressed gratitude, stating,

“We are deeply grateful to our local teams and Bonaire for their coordination and support. The transfer was carried out smoothly and

with the utmost care for safety and protocol.

”In addition, the Ministry strengthened local capacity by confirming the continued presence of three correctional officers from

Aruba and two from Curaçao throughout June. Their support ensures additional on-site assistance during this crucial phase.Progress remains visible on all fronts.

Electrical installations are on schedule, with lighting and outlets installed in 40 cells this week. Cleanup efforts have concluded, and scraping and repainting will begin next week.

According to early inspections, the affected area now meets high standards. The air has cleared, and conditions have improved significantly.

To maintain order, authorities extended the temporary suspension of inmate rights and privileges for another 72 hours. Nevertheless, inmates retain phone contact with their families,

even as in-person visitation remains on hold.Since the incident, the Ministry has prioritized accountability, rapid response, and transparent oversight.

“Our commitment to justice is unwavering,” said Minister Tackling. “This recovery shows what coordinated leadership can achieve.”

Moving forward, the Ministry will continue to provide timely updates while focusing on safety, accountability, and institutional resilience.
